Puckane Holiday Cottages are the perfect place for family and friends to stay at for weddings in Puckane, Nenagh and North Tipperary. This Summer we have 2 wedding parties booked already. Sailing on Lough Derg

The Shannon Sailing School is just 10 minutes drive from the Puckane Holiday Cottages in Dromineer on the shore of Lough Derg, Ireland’s foremost freshwater inland boating and sailing lake. The school hires day-sailing boats and lake fishing boats at very competitive rates. You can also enjoy "Sailing Fun" in groups while learning and improving sailing skills and safety on the water. The school uses dinghies and small/medium sized Yachts or Sailboats with qualified instructors in the Approved Sailing School.

Sailing tuition is available for Juniors and adults. The Shannon Sailing School provides evening, weekend and week long courses, short Keelboat Cruises or private tuition in your own boat.

We have now completed the annual refurbishment of the Puckane Cottages. All the cottages have been repainted, the gardens cleared and the paths relaid.

Fishing on Lough Derg

On of the best angling locations close to Puckane is Lough Derg. The season on Lough Derg runs from March 15th to September 30th. Lough Derg is a large lake of over 30 kilometers in length and is regarded as a mixed fishery. Lake brown trout are indigenous to Lough Derg and are well distributed throughout the lake.

While the season opens in March, the height of the angling year is undoubtedly during the Mayfly season in late April/early May. Fish feed ferociously on mayfly and are in prime condition as they leave the lake on their migratory journey up river to their spawning grounds on the Little Brosna and Camcor rivers.

Access to Lough Deg is excellent at a number of points including the following - Co Clare or western shore at Killaloe, Scariff, Mountshannon, Rossmore and Williamstown Harbours, Whitegate, Portumna Bay Co Galway, Eastern shore, Terryglass, Kilgarvan, Coolbaun, Luska Bay and Dromineer.

Welcome to Vacation Cottages Ireland

Our Irish Vacation cottages are located in the beautiful village of Puckane in County Tipperary. The village typifies “Rural Ireland" with our twelve holiday cottages located right in the centre of the village, set around a charming village green. Puckane has a traditional village pub, Kennedys and a small village store. Further shops and services are a ten-minute drive from Puckane at the market town of Nenagh.

Puckane is near to Lough Derg, Ireland's largest pleasure lake. Lough Derg offers the visitor every kind of water sport, great fishing, exhilarating walking routes and beautiful forest parks. Puckane is perfectly located to explore Ireland with Limerick nearby and Dublin only 2 hours away. It is also a great venue for golf, walking, fishing and horse racing.

Our holiday cottages are either 2 or 3 bedroom. Most of the cottages are thatched and all are built in the traditional Irish style with log burning fires. All the cottages have been recently refurbished and now benefit from new fitted bathrooms and kitchens.
